For cripe's sake!

A 45 year old cartoon is only now triggering/outraging a bunch of perpetually offended snowflakes?

Just as bad as 100+ year old Civil war statues of Confederates just recently triggering these same types of mentally ill crybaby basket cases after all these decades when nobody else ever had a big problem with them before now?

I was watching a video of college students pissing bitching and moaning about the 60's TV show "I Dream Of Jeanie" reruns being demeaning to women because Jeanie was a "slave" and had a "master" and how it should be banned from TV. I shidt you not!

I CALLED IT!! WooHoo! :woohoo:

My girlfriend & I were watching this show last night and I pointed out the very scene they're bitching about. I was only joking when I told her "Look at Franklin sitting across the table from all the white kids. Wanna bet there are idiots out there who are actually stupid enough to consider that 'racist'?"

Yup, I called it. But it's not because I'm so "brilliant", LOL. Nope, it's because those morons are so freaking predictable.

Oh, I believe it.

Early '00s, I was invited to be guest lecture at Syracuse U in NY as a "Subject Matter Expert" on industrial automation communication protocols. Now, anyone even slightly familar with the subject knows that one of the more common protocols at the time was "Modbus" in which every node is either a "Master" or "Slave". Swear to god, that's genuine official ModbusTM terminology. Natural I submitted my paper ahead of time.

I get there the day before. (I ALWAYS get there the day before, because places like this NEVER have the sound or lighting or HVAC right.) The lady in charge of booking the thing who was obviously a liberal arts major rather than engineering says to me, "This is good but you can't use the words "Master" and "Slave". Can you rework it?" So I spend the evening reworking it. (They pay the piper, they call the tune.)

Now, It might have been that I was pissed off at the whole thing. It might have been the late-night time that I put in. It might have been the fact that the hotel had a very well-stocked mini-bar. Or all three. I choose the words "dominant and "submissive" rather than master and slave, and grabbed some clip-art off the internet to give my presentation some pizzazz.

The audience thought it was a hoot, and along the way I think they learned a thing or two (I CAN "work" an audience.) The scheduler lady? Not so much.

Long story short, I've never been invited back to Syracuse.

That's THEY'RE loss, not mine.

That SAME lecture these days? Well, the Modbus organization has since changed their terminology from "Master/Slave" to "Client/Server". How does this equate? I address this by using a "massage parlor" analogy: The "client" is the person who walks into a massage parlor wanting something, such as a piece of data (or, um, whatever). The "server" is the person (or machine) that can give it to them. Seems to work...

...but I'll probably NEVER be invited back to Syracuse again. THOSE people have a stick so far up their ass you can probably see twig leaves when they open their mouth.

Random tweets from nobodies is a backlash?

I'm sick of supposed "outrages", from both sides, which amount to the equivalent of bored losers grumbling in a bar if we didn't have the internet.

Lots of hits about this on the web, so it’s worth mentioning

Probably would never have gotten any traction if snowflakes hadn’t already been snowflakin?but they’ve sort of established a pattern here
